1 mark to an A for chemistry. ): And I didn't get to claim any marks for math. Not even one ): Chem might have hope.

B3 x 1 + C5 x 2 + C6 x 1.5 + D7 x 1 = 29
29/5.5 = 5.272727273

Never seen such a horrendous number before in my life.

Keep it to myself
Link | Back to top.
Through a most horrible and upsetting lesson ever, I have learnt that some or in fact all unhappiness should be kept to myself and not be told to other people.

Just accept things the way they are because if they're like that, it must be because they're fated to be like that. So face it.

World Choir Games Graz 2008- Day 3b
Link | Back to top.
OH I REMEMBER WHERE THE SUPPOSEDLY HORRIBLE PLACE WAS ALREADY!

It was at Stadhalle Graz, we had some food vouchers and could get like 'free' dinner there. They had some pasta, topped with a whole mountain of cheese, and something chicken chop. The portions were humongous and it was like a mad rush for food. They had salad and bread for appetizers and all, and fruit punch. And soup. Campbell soup -.-

We decided to take 4 plates of pasta for 6 people to share. Then this Jia Yu dunno disappear to where, after we came back with 4 plates of pasta, she came back with 2 more plates of the chicken thing == So we didn't finish all of our food and it was so wasteful but we honestly couldn't eat any more.

Did I mention my groupmates? Lo Yee was group leader, plus Christine, Jia Min, Jing Wen and Jia Yu. And me! Ya then Christine and Lo Yee didn't eat much and Lo Yee looked like she was eating off someone else's plate because the table was so small and the bowl of soup was in front of her and the plate of pasta was in front of the soup at the opposite end of the table.

Oh I remember we had a plate of untouched pasta left. Jia Yu went to give it away to some small kids, hahaha. She's cool.

Get to see lots of cool hairstyles there (and rude people who cut queue, queue long like dragon -.-). And they've small kids who dress/accessorize/tie their hair up in ways so mature I'm not sure if they did it themselves. Yup there was this small girl. I forgot what she was wearing but she didn't look like she was dressed her age but she looked nice.

Oh we saw Tampines Primary there! :D

Cross Country at Macritchie
Link | Back to top.
My arm is dead and my bowling sucks. 123, 108 and a freaking 76. Walaoeh. What is that lor D: I got so pissed at the last game I decided to stop and go home. See la tkd!

Ok fine, I lousy.

Last cross country run. Nowhere near running across the country but it was a good run, I'd say. Macritchie Reservoir. I ran with Jemima because Siew Ying pangsehed me and Zi Yan pangsehed Deborah for band's batch run or something like that, and Deborah refused to run with me because she thinks I run too fast ==

Lots of encounters with milipedes (sp?) while waiting.

Teachers like to speak loudly even when provided with a mic and a speaker facing the audience. I think sec 4s nearly went deaf.

We were the last level to run and the other levels were taking their own sweet time strolling and zor teng-ing by not moving to one side even when the path was wide. Goodness.

But it was a good run and I'd want to do it again. I was dizzying after the run and I was walking and walking but it was so difficult to do so because everybody was sitting everywhere. It was so men1 and I thought I'd yun1 dao3 or something like that so I just kept walking and walking and walking and I didn't yun dao, -.-

After the run I took our class's something-card- you know, the one with your class printed really huge on it- and went round fanning people. HAHAHA it's fun ok!

Mr Paul Tan was very funny. He saw me fanning my classmates with the card thing and took his small stack of class lists and tried to fan me, with the weird look on his face as usual -.- He went away after about 10 seconds.

Prize presentation was quite -.- because we couldn't hear anything. We were chased up a small slope because they finally realised that they couldn't squeeze 1700-minus people into that tiny space.

The people going to Kolkatta (sp?) were going around selling lollipops at $1 to raise funds. I was nice and decided to buy one from Xin Yu. After some time she came by with a piece of paper which had names and handphone numbers on it so that she'd remember who to zhui1 zhai4 from.

Xinyu: Sok! What's your number?
Me: 16.
Xinyu: HUH?
Me: ... OH OH OH 98******!

-.- I thought register number until I saw the rows of numbers on the paper -.-

After the whole thing we went to collect our bags and valuables. This sec 1 girl was asking Jomain where she could find her class's valuables. Haha and why would my class monitress know where her class's stuff were -.-

Then I had a lot of trouble trying to locate Siew Ying and she had a lot of trouble trying to locate me because we were at different bus stops and she wasn't near any of the ones I was at. She was up up at a bus stop in front and I didn't know that until she told me "you board the bus then I board". I feel so dumb -.- In the end we boarded the same bus, but I was right at the back with Eunice and Siew Ying was right in front. When we boarded 67 at the HCI bus stop, all 3 of us just fell asleep. Until Yinn Shan shocked me awake at the Rail Mall bus stop when she was getting off. After that, I slept again.

Then I went home, ate lunch, went bowling and got pissed with myself. Even Bok feels heavy now ): Morgan is just x.x and yesterday's taekwondo didn't help, heh. Aiya. I need to retrain arm muscles, bah.

World Choir Games Graz 2008- Day 3
Link | Back to top.
It's 1323.

Day 3- 9th July 2008

Since I forgot a lot of things, I will just copy most of the content from my journal.

Zomg jet lagging like crazy now (2225, Vienna time).
We figured that a summary of yesterday was really eat, sleep, eat, sleep, eat sleep. So horrible.
I just transferred my 139 pictures (accumulated over 2 days) into my superduper 4.0GB thumbdrive with Jia Yu's magic laptop :D

Woke up at 8.30am today. We had nice nice breakfast at the hotel lobby.

Then we went outside the hotel to practice at 1000. Passers-by were taking stopping to listen and taking photos in their cars. Hahahaha. So funny. Then after a while, the receptionist told us that we were disturbing the people who were sleeping upstairs, so we had to go down to the basement. The acoustics there not bad.

1230, we left for the parade place. Took bus.

Our stop.

"Welcome to Graz to the World Choir Games 2008"!

It was outside the Mayor's something. Town Council or something like that? I'm not sure. But it's pretty.

They had all the names of the participating countries and their flags.

Some spelling errors...

There was a band playing! The guy in front with the green thing is the conductor. He's cool :D

They've these really tiny scores which they can hold/fasten onto their arm (depending on the instruments they're playing). Haha!

We went for lunch. 2 choices: Chinese restaurant or pizza.

Streets of Graz. That's Vicky in the middle.

My group went for pizza along with some others, at Pizza Cafe. Ms Lim went for Chinese food and she was all "!!!" when we wanted to eat pizza. "You eat yourself, I eat myself!"
HAHAHA!
I was sharing a table with Lo Yee, Christine, Jia Yu, Addie and Xenia. Christine and Addie were swooning over this waiter. -.-

'Tis the first time we got to eat food from the restaurants in Graz.

Nice restaurant, eh!

With strange pictures...

nice deco,

and a whole menu, just for chocolate.

We all took apple juice.

"What drink(s) would you like?"

The main course...Pizza! Topped with ham and mushrooms. €6-7+. Actually we ordered in set meals: One pizza and one soup. One pizza could feed about 2 people so we took 3 sets, since our table had 6.

It's really, really salty. We all got a shock when we took our first bite o.o But but but, after eating this, we all don't wanna eat Pizza Hut already. It's really good. The cheese is nice and the crust is thin and crispy :D

The soup!

清汤?O.o

There's a huge meatball-thingum inside. I think you can faintly see it from the picture. It's salty too. Superduperultra salty. But it tastes good!

After that, we got bored and tried taking artistic photos of our empty glasses.

Not bad lah, hor?

And other random things, like the cute papers they give to little kids to entertain themselves while waiting for food.

My camera does wonders. The paper was supposed to be bright yellow and look what supermacro did to it? It decolourised it! O:

Oh well.

Christine is happy with the Singapore Flag.

Well um, Jia Yu blinked. -.-

After lunch, we met back at the parade ground and practised in a corner a little way down from the area. There was this naked guy sitting on his window sill and crossing his legs and it was shocking. Someone took a picture and he posed O:
Hahaha land of music, we were just practising and facing the wall but people stopped to listen and they clapped after every song. I don't think you get that in Singapore. People will just stare at you like you're nuts.
The time for parade soon came. We were about to go back when this old lady approached us and spoke to us in German.

Old lady: -German German-
Us: Huh?
Old lady: -continued speaking in German-
Us: Karen!! (she was the only one who could speak German in choir)

So Karen came.

Old lady: -repeated whatever she said to us just now-
Karen: Huh?

Omg so comic lah HAHAHAHAHA.

Well Karen managed to understand what she was saying and they talked a bit. Something about whether we were coming here to sing and stuff. They've really nice people around!

Cute toilet sign.

We saw many choirs.

I forgot where this one was from, but their costumes are really pretty!

I think this one's from Hong Kong. Diocesan Boys' School Choir.

Okazaki High School Choir from Japan!

South African choir. Thhe girl in blue on the right's really pretty :D

Another South African choir. 3 altogether.

Group photo! I don't know where the guys are from, or the people in the middle.

Sooooo, parade. The countries were going in order of the alphabet so imagine Singapore. Ssssss. Lol. Yeah we had to wait quite a bit. The Romanians in front of us were quite on and high. They were cheering "Ro-man-ia!" and some stupid person (I forgot who, as usual) was going "Huh? Go Maria?"

Yun1 dao3!!

Parade was basically walking around Graz, from somewhere to Stadhalle Graz, where they had the opening ceremony.

Quite a long way, but nobody minded because the air was so nice! We were waving our small small flags and smiling to everybody and feeling proud to be Singaporean :D

On the way, Jane's flag got snatched by this group of guys who was collecting flags HAHAHAHA. So funny, they went "Give me that!" and just zook it was gone and in their hands.

See their collection? xD

Opening ceremony was made up of great performances by the orchestra and 3 choirs and a speech by the President of the World Choir Games.

Austrian Flag on the left, World Choir Games's on the right.

Flags!

More flags! Bet you can't spot the Singapore Flag, heh.

It's here! :D

Many similar-looking flags...

Red, white, green seems a popular combination O.o Sorry 'bout the blurness, my hands were too unstable.

Hahaha.

The performances were really good!

After that we went for dinner. I've totally no impression of where we went to, but says in my journal that we "went for dinner in a horrible place with horrendously big portions of food served".

Then we went back to the hotel for 30 minutes of practice, debrief, and went up to eat pi pa gao, jet lagging like crazy and feeling sick. Lag until like 1900+ only then "all look like zombies", as Ms Lim puts it. It's so horrible my eyes couldn't open and I was dizzying around.

Oh, the teachers and some others were really nice. They helped us to iron our gown for tomorrow's BIG DAY, and stayed up to do that. Thanks loads to all of them! :D

"Then now, sleep. Cannot tahan already."

Time now: 1511

Quiz
Link | Back to top.
Koped from Zi Yan, because I'm waaaaay too bored. I'm not going to study math at 2345 at night.

Rule: Each player of this game starts off with 15 weird things/habits/little known facts about yourself. People who get tagged need to write a blog of their own 15 weird habits/things/little known facts as well as state this rule clearly. At the end, you need to choose 10 people to be tagged and list their names. NO TAG BACKS!

1) I like running.
2) I love bowling.
3) I'm scared of many people.
4) I like biology.
5) I dislike school.
6) I don’t like saying ‘no’ to people.
7) I enjoy being alone/having time to myself.
8) I like white/lime green.
9) I have goldfish memory. Wonder how I ever passed biology and can do well enough to aim for A.
10) I love looking at art.
11) I've a joker for a sister and she can be really stupidly irritating sometimes. Stupidly funny, too.
12) I like chinese. Well, sort of.
13) I have a small duck named Ducku. He's smaller than Zi Yan's pink Duckie.
14) I like being out of the house.
15) I eat a lot and I eat lemons.

Horrible dream
Link | Back to top.
Some nights ago, or maybe last night, I had this horrendous dream about taekwondo. Stupid LeeLiuYi is laughing like mad about it now D:

I dreamt I was in the same tkd class as Liu Yi and I was black belt already. Liu Yi was either blue belt or downgraded to green or doubledowngraded to yellow. So there was sparring session and I was sparring with someone else. I cannot remember the rank. So then I sparred quite horribly and got thrashed quite badly, and after that round of sparring Liu Yi came over to scold me, telling me how horrible I was and "HOW TO TAKE GRADING LIKE THAT! SURE FAIL LOR!"
It stopped there because I was too horrified by her and myself I guess.

Zomg that'd better not happen in real life. I want to spar well and pass my grading(s) nicely!

Alamak, people just came back from Austria with half a mountain of homework to do, then asked to do some Teacher's Day powerpoint with all the thank-you's and laadeedum things. Wei shen me, wei shen me, weiiii shennnn meeee!! (……为什么月亮有时圆有时又不圆~!)

Ok sorry that was random.

The number of photos that I can provide is quite negligible.

Bleah ben3 ren2 bad mood whole day today cos of this morning -.-

Bio SPA was quite screwed. I think I did wrongly. I forgot what I did already. Aiya, whatever!

Now I've a shitload of homework and 2 chem quizzes to take D: And MORE work, like chemistry worksheets 16 (completed), 17 and 18 by next Tuesday, math worksheet 10.1 by next Wednesday and I've absolutely no idea on how to start. I've math worksheet corrections and compo and compre and math worksheet 9.1 also. GRRRR!!!

Oh 李老师 very nice, she told me that I can hand in one piece a week, so I can actually hand in compo this week and compre next week or something like that. I should try to finish asap D:

SAI LA I'm going to ask someone to tell me all the homework they had the last 2 weeks and make sure I finish everything D:

Today was slack day. Assembly/PCCG, math we watched movie, chinese we watched some show with a lot of fighting o.o LA was reading period in com lab 5 (suddenly so many com labs), chemistry I was sleeping away and copying things for the sake of copying and practical was ok, not very interesting and not very boring, then I died during bio SPA and choir we discussed Ms Lim's present! And food to bring lala so on. I need 2 bottles of drinks. Yes. Ok off to do math corrections. ):

World Choir Games Graz 2008-Days 1&2
Link | Back to top.
NOW, we blog about Austria. Time now is 1816, let's see how long I take to finish this first post on days 1 and 2. Brace yourselves, 'tis gonna be a really lengthy post.

Days 1 & 2- 7th/8th July 2008

I reached Changi Airport's Terminal 1 at 2300+ on 7th July. Supposed to meet at 0000 but well, I was early. The first group was there being briefed by Mrs Teo and they went off after a while. Mrs Tan went with them.

Then people from the second group started streaming in with the luggages and all. For me, it was 全家出动 to come and send me off. Leng and Liak ran off to take the skytrain to T2 or T3 to see see look look and they kept staring at the huge huge board which had all the boarding/departure timings for various airlines to various places.

Got our passports and at around 0000, checked in our luggage. Mine weighed about 14kg I think? Then we had the same briefing by Mrs Teo. She gave jellybeans to Mr Mac and Ms Lim and Ms Goh. Yup the briefing was about how we should behave and all that, conduct, how to keep safe and stuff, and how we're going there not as ourselves, not as Nanyang Girls' High School, but as Singapore. At that instant I really felt quite proud of that fact, that we were representing Singapore in this international competition against 93 nations and 441 choirs. Well, my perspective sort of changed after the trip, but that's another matter.

So we got to say our last goodbyes to our parents for 10 days. Then we went to the departure gate and we got to walk around the place for a while. Decided to sit down and eat a bit because we were getting hungry. Jia Yu bought this huge box of California Rolls for about S$10+ I think? The rolls were huge and they were cold and nice. They gave nice soy sauce and I ate it from the packet quite to everyone's horror.

Went to somewhere near the other end of the airport, gate C26. I forgot what time it was. They had a few computers there with free internet for us to use, so some people were using it to blog and send emails all that.

Gate C26
Gate C26

We had quite some time to boarding, so people were reading (and some attempting to study),
淑女!
This is how shu2 nv3s should sit.

others were talking, stoning, slacking...
Waiting...
Nope, I'm not there.

and of course, sleeping.
Sleepy roommate
Meet my roommate. I wonder how she can sleep in such a position.

o.O
O.o

Aww xD
Aww, the pres and vice pres, haha!

Wheee!
After sleeping, you play! =D

Finally boarded the plane at around 0300. 7-hour flight to Dubai on Emirates. I nearly died of boredom, and I was sitting in the middle; no window and no pretty view!

I don't know what time it was, but we had breakfast at some unearthly hour I guess.

Through the window
Sunrise? I'm not sure. Credits to Xenia!

The plane was cold. We reached Dubai International Airport in the morning (Dubai time). I forgot what time it was. 0630? It was quite the bright, like our 8am or something, and really really hot. Took a little bus to the airport. It's cute.

Dubai Airport is huge, and really busy. They sell about everything there. Handphones to MP3s to cameras, loads of wine, lots of food, jewellary, things from Dubai...The crowd's quite intimidating.
人山人海!
People mountain people see sea

They've quite some rooms in the airport. There was the Quiet Room, for people to sleep while waiting for their next flight, and they had the Smoking Room, in which smokers were supposed to smoke. But it was really useless. Some people go into the room, but the door's left wide open. Then you have people standing outside and holding their cigarette inside the room, which really doesn't make any difference at all. Air pollution. We're all going to die from being second-hand smokers.

Outside the airport
View from the Quiet Room.

Adeline T and I were attempting Math and we nearly died. The sec 1s were being quite noisy singing songs and well, people got irritated. Did I mention that you can see people sleeping everywhere in Dubai Airport? Yup, really everywhere. On the chairs along the travellators, on the floor, sometimes with mats and blankets. Long flights are tiring and irritating. We were supposed to sleep at least 3 hours but I could only make myself sleep 1-2 hours at most.

I realised I forgot my calculator. That was the stupidest thing on earth.

Then we took the bus to another plane, after chionging like mad because we were almost late and the gate was underground in an ant tunnel. Minutes after boarding the bus, Jia Yu realised she left her hand carry bag in the Quiet Room. Good thing it didn't really contain any valuables because they were in a pouch round her waist. But it had her electric toothbrush, and 1 and a half year's worth of Chemistry notes. She told Mr Mac, who tried to get the airport people to look for it but they couldn't find it then. Flight was delayed by a while 'cause of us, and they said they'd send it to our Vienna hotel if they found it.

After that, we were on our way to Vienna. Dubai has really long, endless roads that seem to lead to nowhere. Really really longgggggg.

Kueh lapis!
I think this is Vienna from the top. Looks like kueh lapis from the plane, but it's not clear here.

There was jiu3 ceng2 gao1 and all the nyonya kueh. It's quite amusing.

I found out the screen thing on the plane's a touch screen! It's so cool man.

We reached Vienna Airport. Almost didn't get my passport stamped at the customs. The lady there just flipped through my passport then gave it back to me. Ms Lim and someone else too. So shocking.

Got our baggage, bought 2 bottles of water per section from the airport, and went out to board the coach that would take us to Graz. First step out of the airport was so O: O: O: O: O: because the air is so cool and crisp and it was breezy. Lovely. Everyone was like WOAHHHHH, hahahaha. And everyone started drinking water because we were all dying of thirst. Didn't have much water to drink on the plane.

Loaded our luggage onto the bus, which was really high, and got on. On the right side of the bus. Driver's on the left. So off to Graz.

Really long drive, 2 and a half hours at least. But the scenery made up for it. Oh yeah, you'd want to know that inside the bus is warmer than outside, unlike in Singapore.

Green green green
Lots and lots and lots of pretty trees.

Windmill or wind turbine?
Windmills! Or wind turbines. Pretty all the same :D

Flower! Blurred ):
Sunflowers!!

We drove past a whole field of sunflowers. It was so pretty but the bus was going fast and we couldn't get a clear picture. Well you can always Google 'sunflowers' or something (:

Their skies are just- I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

Road...
Long way to go...

O:
Pretty buildings along the way.

Oops, I missed
I was intending to take a picture of the signboard that said 'Graz' or something like that, but missed and a pretty picture magically appeared.

Just before we entered Graz.

Haha, check out the number of cars.

Mercure Hotel
Our home for the first few days, Mercure Hotel.

I forgot to take pictures of the room before Jia Yu and I messed it up.

Mess!
The room, after one night of sleep. It's a double bed with 2 blankets instead of 1 big one. Some people got twin beds.

Teevee
Dangerous TV. You've to pay for some channels, so we didn't dare to turn it on.

Um, remote?
This is the cool remote that we didn't know how to operate. Anyhow turn and set the fan thing to 1, then it wasn't really cool, but that's ok.

I own it. :D
The side shelf on my side of the bed, after one day.

Door has no peephole, toilet has no lock.

On top of that, no kettle and no safe. My pao4 mian4 ):

House!
View from the balcony. View from the other side of the hotel is a really pretty graveyard. The tombstones are really pretty and they've really nice flowers.

左邻
This is my zuo3 lin2. I didn't take my you4 she4, because the next room had, um, undies hanging out to dry on a chair in the balcony...

Toilet!
Toilet. Only provided with shampoo, bath gel, soap, 3-in-1 soap (by the side of the mirror) for hand, hair and body, and glasses for brushing. And a soccer duck. The popular bag's Jia Yu's.

I forgot what we did. Lunch at Macs and dinner and debrief and sleep? Something like that.

...I really forgot. -.-

One more of the sky.

Pictures? Ask me :D!

Time now is 2023. -.-
